What should the heirs do?

By preparing a Notes to Heirs, it will make it easier for your heirs to know important information such as death benefit (Khairat Kematian), who to contact, and other related details.

After the burial, heirs will need to provide documents such as the Death Certificate and contact us to begin the inheritance management process.

We will also initiate the claim process for any khairat funds (if available) from the takaful company. The funds will be deposited directly into the heir’s bank account within 30 days once the application is complete and processed.

Making a will is an important step in estate and family planning as it ensures that the wishes of the testator are respected and carried out after their passing. Here are the main reasons why a will is necessary:

  • Appointing a Trusted Executor: The testator can appoint an executor to manage the distribution of assets and ensure all matters are handled with integrity.
  • Ensuring Family Welfare: A will allows the testator to decide on the care of minor children or dependents, appoint guardians, and provide instructions on managing assets.
  • Bequeathing One-Third of Assets: The testator may allocate up to one-third of their assets for charitable purposes or specific individuals.
  • Settlement of Debts and Liabilities: A will ensures that all debts of the testator are settled before the estate is distributed among heirs.
  • Avoiding Delays and Legal Issues: A clear will speeds up the distribution process and reduces the risk of disputes among heirs.
  • Protecting Vulnerable Family Members: The testator can safeguard vulnerable family members by appointing a guardian for their inheritance.

With a will, the testator can ensure that all matters relating to assets and responsibilities are managed in an orderly and lawful manner, preventing complications and providing peace of mind.

Leaving Notes to Heirs is important to ensure that the wishes of the deceased are respected after their passing. It helps in:

  • Asset Distribution: Prevents conflicts by providing clear guidance on inheritance.
  • Family Welfare: Ensures the care of family members, especially those needing special attention.
  • Debt Settlement: Makes sure debts are paid off before assets are distributed.
  • Reducing Emotional Burden: Provides guidance to the family, easing stress during a difficult time.
  • Protecting Assets: Ensures that assets are properly managed and not left unattended.
  • Preventing Disputes: Avoids disagreements with clear and specific instructions.

In summary, such instructions ensure that matters after death are handled smoothly, fairly, and according to the wishes of the deceased.

  • Heirs are required to report the death of a KhairatPlus member by visiting https://pewarisan.my/contact-us and completing the details provided.
  • The heirs must attach a copy of the death certificate/burial permit and any relevant medical report, and upload these documents on the Pewarisan website.
  • Our officer will contact the heirs for further action regarding estate management and the cash claim provided under KhairatPlus.
  • Claims must be submitted and reported by the heirs within 30 days from the date of death. Any claims made after this period will be invalid and will not be processed by Pewarisan.
  • Cash payment will be disbursed to the heirs by the takaful provider within 30 working days, subject to the terms and conditions.

Steps we recommend if there is an estate of a family member that has not yet been initiated or completed:

  • Appoint one heir to act as the applicant.
  • Prepare the Death Certificate of the deceased.
  • Prepare copies of the Identification Cards (ICs) of the heirs.
  • Prepare copies of immovable property documents (house, land).
  • Prepare copies of movable property documents (bank accounts, Tabung Haji, vehicle grants, etc.).

Next, fill in your details at https://pewarisan.my/#consultation and our officer will contact you for the next process.

Do not let this happens to your family

One of the main causes of disputes among heirs in inheritance matters is the lack of understanding about Faraid and the concept of Islamic inheritance.

Another issue arises when the deceased did not prepare a Will or appoint an Executor and Property Custodian for minor children.

Inheritance distribution are also often delayed due to incomplete documentation

All of this can be avoided with KhairatPlus — only RM50/year to ease your heirs’ responsibilities.
